The Southern Nevada Health District is one of the largest local public health organizations in the United States. The health district serves over 1.7 million residents, which is 70 percent of Nevada’s total population. Also, the district is responsible with safeguarding the public health of more than 37 million visitors to Las Vegas each year.
In recent years, the role of public health has expanded to include oversight and participation in areas such as bioterrorism and disaster and emergency preparedness.

Health Permit FAQs
I am a tattoo artist/piercer in Las Vegas. Do I need to obtain a temporary health permit?
YES! Based on The Southern Nevada Health District, ALL tattoo artists and piercers who plan to work during the Biggest Tattoo Show on Earth’s three-day event MUST submit the Temporary Health Permit (Artist) Application along with the supplemental documents and fee.
When will health inspections occur at The Biggest Tattoo Show on Earth 2015?
Health inspections will begin at 10:00 a.m. PST on Friday, September 18, 2015. Each artist MUST have his/her booth set up no later than 2:30 p.m. PST to prevent any health inspection delays. Please note that health inspectors will inspect the booths on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once your booth is set up, the artist will need to visit the SNHD Registration Desk to request a health inspector to visit his/her booth to inspect the booth. YOU MAY NOT BEGIN TO TATTOO OR PIERCE UNTIL THE SNHD HEALTH INSPECTOR PROVIDES YOU WITH AN OFFICIAL WRISTBAND.
I plan to tattoo at a local studio in Las Vegas before/after The Biggest Tattoo Show on Earth 2015. Would the temporary health permit from SNHD be valid?
No. The temporary health permit is ONLY VALID during The Biggest Tattoo Show on Earth’s three-day event. If you need to extend your temporary health permit, please contact the Southern Nevada Health District directly at 702-759-0677.
Can I mail in a personal or company check to pay for the health permit fee?
No. The Southern Nevada Health District ONLY allows payment via MONEY ORDER or CASHIER’S CHECK. (NO EXCEPTIONS!)
